BMX Pro XXXL
A Pro XXXL BMX bike answers the outsized builds, from 193 cm up, that the standard chart leaves behind. Top tube of 22" and beyond, cranks of 180 mm, 20 inch build on 406 rims. A rare size, made by few manufacturers: Inspyre, Chase and Meybo are among them.
BMX Pro XXXL: the size for outsized builds
The Pro XXXL closes the race chart. It concerns riders of 193 cm and over, a minority on national gates and, as a result, poorly served by catalogues. Hunting for an XXXL means first hunting for a size that exists at all, before comparing materials or finish levels.
Do you actually need this size?
| Class | Rider height | Top tube | Cranks | Wheel |
| Pro XXL | 183 to 193 cm | 21.5" to 21.75" | 177.5 to 180 mm | 20" (406) |
| Pro XXXL | 193 cm and over | 22" and over | 180 mm | 20" (406) |
| Cruiser | 150 cm and over | 20.5" to 22" | 175 to 180 mm | 24" (507) |
Between 191 and 195 cm there is room for doubt. The clearest test happens on your current bike: saddle slammed rearward, stem of 55 mm or more, the feeling of pedalling from behind the bars, and the BMX Pro XXL has run out of room. A 194 cm rider with a short torso, on the other hand, sometimes keeps an easier time in XXL, which is shorter to place in a berm.
A rare size: what that means when buying
XXXL is the least manufactured format in the sport. Few brands offer it, and when they do it is often in a single range and a single colour. The consequence is practical: the search starts from what is genuinely made, not from the model you had in mind. A multi-brand catalogue changes that, since a brand stopping at 21.75" leaves room for another to take over.
The markers of a Pro XXXL frame
- Top tube of 22" and over, sometimes quoted at 22.5"
- 406 rim in 20 inch, tyres from 20x1.50 to 20x1.75
- Cranks of 180 mm on a three-piece crankset
- Euro, Mid or Spanish shell, according to the maker
- Rear axle usually 20 mm, with a 36 hole hub advised
- Extended chainstays and a raised shell to clear the cranks
The compatible parts to plan for
Scarcity does not stop at the frame. You need a seat post long enough to extend cleanly from the tube, a short stem of 45 to 50 mm so as not to stretch an already generous position, and a headset in the right standard, integrated or semi-integrated depending on the frame chosen. Check the seat post diameter and the shell type before ordering too: they decide whether your current parts carry over.
Would 24 inch answer better?
Plenty of very tall riders end up on a Cruiser, alongside the 20 inch or instead of it. The 24 inch wheel lengthens the wheelbase, smooths out the rhythm sections and is easier to find in a large size. Our 24 inch BMX Cruiser range is worth a look before deciding.
The brands that make the size
Inspyre, Chase and Meybo are among the makers that push their range into the extreme formats, each with its own take on geometry. Supercross and Stay Strong appear depending on the model year. Nothing is guaranteed from one season to the next: a size listed one year can vanish the following one, which makes following the collections decisive. On this format the material question usually comes after availability. Large-diameter 7005 or 6061-T6 aluminium stays the safe answer for a heavy rider, tolerant of a mistimed landing and repairable; carbon exists, more rarely, and calls for regular inspection of the rear triangle.
