Cleared tools only pay off if they fit your standards
A discounted tool is only a good deal if it actually engages your fasteners. The references gathered here come from renewed ranges or reorganised sets; they are new, but each one covers a precise set of dimensions that you need to check against your own bike before ordering.
The sizes that actually matter in BMX Race
- Hex 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm: stem, seat clamp, chainring, wheel axles.
- Torx T25 and T30: chainring and caliper hardware on recent builds.
- Spoke key 3.2 / 3.3 / 3.45 mm, depending on the nipples fitted.
- 15 mm spanner and a hex socket for axle nuts.
Extractors and torque wrenches: the clearance traps
A crank extractor or a bottom bracket tool only works with one standard: Euro, Mid, Spanish or American. Check it on the product sheet. For a discounted torque wrench, look mainly at the torque range: a carbon build needs precision between 4 and 8 Nm, not a tool graduated from 20 to 100 Nm.
