What sends a wheel or a tyre into the sale
Built pairs often change hub graphics or rim decals from one year to the next with no technical change at all. On the rubber side, a tyre is reduced when the brand revises its casing or drops a section with little demand. Then come the less common configurations: 28-hole drilling, one specific cassette driver standard, an unusual tooth count.
The four dimensions to verify before buying
Running gear does not forgive approximation. Check the diameter first: 20" in 406 or 451, two rims that do not take the same tyre, and 24" in 507 for Cruiser. Then the axle diameter, 10, 15 or 20 mm front and rear, the 28 or 36-hole drilling if you are after a bare rim, and the rear drive type — screw-on freewheel or cassette driver. Add the brake version, V-brake or disc.
