Chain tensioners on sale: dropped colours and split batches
The tensioner is a small part with a fast turnover of finishes. A brand anodises a run in red or blue, the palette moves on the following year, and the remainder goes to clearance. The job itself never changes: locate the rear axle in the dropout and hold chain tension when the gate drops.
Axle diameter decides everything
The checkpoint for this family is the rear axle size, to be measured before ordering. 10 mm covers the large majority of BMX race hubs; 14 mm applies to thicker hubs and some Cruiser builds. A tensioner in the wrong diameter cannot be rescued with a washer. Check dropout thickness too — a wide alloy dropout will not take every plate.
In pairs, while stocks last
End-of-line runs sometimes leave single units. Two identical tensioners beat one: they let you adjust symmetrically and keep the wheel centred between the chainstays. If one colour is all that remains, take the complete pair rather than splitting the build.
